Pope Pius IXth defyed to boycott this Kingdom. Argues stoped, when Pope Pius XIth endorsed Lateran Pact with Italian government in 1929 11 of February. With this agreement was created indipendent Vatican state-city and Romes Catholics Church got exclusive status. In 1984 Rome Catholics religion was declared the national religion of Italy.

Vatican City State has its own flag (is made up of two fields, vertically divided in half: the yellow half flies alongside the flagpole, the white half bears the papal tiara and crossed keys) and anthem like and other sovereign country. On 16 October 1949 Pope Pius XII decided that Charles Gounod’s (1818-1893) Pontifical March should become the official hymn. The Pontifical March was played the first time on 11 April 1869 during celebrations Pope’s julee, but during performance on Holy Eve of 1950 was quite different from the previous anthem.
