In 1207 King John established a Royal borough - an area with certain rights where people from all over the country were invited to settle here.
A community of around 150 families started their living here from fishing and agriculture. In 1235 here were seven small streets and surrounded the Church of St Nicholas and the Liverpool Castle. These ancient streets today can be found around the Town Hall in the city centre.
Liverpool has several valuable awards - 'European Capital of Culture' in 2008 and 'Britain's most filmed city outside London' - impressive architecture may be seen in the backdrops for many a film and television series.
Without historic streets here are number of independent galleries, art collections, sculptures, world class museums and award-winning theatres more than any other city bar London and almost all every visitor shoud include to "must visiting" list.
