Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, famous for fine architecture and one of the most prestigious universities in all United Kingdom. Edinburgh (after Glasgow) is Scotland’s second largest city.
Gardens of Princes Street separate the historical Edinburgh's centre into two parts - to the south of these gardens is the old city (with its buildings dating from the 12th century, here is and the world famous Edinburgh castle, shopping, financial districts, banks and insurance companies), to the north of the gardens is the New city (based on plan designed by James Craig in 1766, here are modern's architecture's buildings - Scottish parliament, The National Gallery). Also there is a Zoo in Edinburg.
In August 3 weeks Edinburgh Festival each summer full city's streets with nearly a million people, music, dance, cultural delights, art, theatre, opera, traditional Military Tattoo...
From December 31 until January 2 is taking place another city's streets party - Hogmanay - New Year's celebration.
In Edinburg also is the National Library of Scotland - onemost important library in Scotland and one of the largest in all United Kingdom.
There are two football clubs - Hibernian Edinburgh and Hearts OF Midlothian, one catholic and the other one is Protestant.
