| The Ogre Fountain |

There are plenty alluring fountains in Bern. A series of eleven 16th century fountains with colourful figures are landmarks of the medieval downtown is exhibited. One of them is The Ogre Fountain. This strange decorated water fountain is placed in the Kornhausplatz. Legend has it that the Ogre Fountain is actually steeped in anti-semantic beginnings, as it was painted completely yellow, the color used to vilify Jews during medieval times. It was a common misconception during these times that a Jewish religious ritual involved the murder of children. Today it is lureing mess of tourists.
