It is worth to see this charming Switzerland capital next to the Aare River. Berne name derives from the German word for bear. Legend has it than when the Duke Berthold V arrived in 1191, the first animal he killed while hunting was a bear ('Barn' is the dialect of the time) and thus the city got its name. It is also known for its Bear Pits where you can see real bears.
The best way to get know city is on foot. You can visit the Bern oldtown, wich involved in UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, the 12th-century Clock Tower, the impressive Gothic cathedral (Munster), the Botanical Gardens, the Kunstmuseum, The Houses of Parliament ( the seat of the Swiss government), the Albert Einstein House and the vaulted arcades in the center, which is one of the best places to shop around.
