Ljubljana is very important trading centre between East and West. Tourism is develoved very well - in the city here are beautiful panoramas, historic and architectural monuments. The capital of Slovenia was established during Roman time.

University of Ljubljana (more than 50000 students) was established in 1595 and now gives vivid impression for all city and its cultural life.

In 1895 here was an earthquake, bigger part of the town was damaged, because of that almost all buildings in Ljubljana are not older than 100 years, but the castle (built in the XIIth century) hasn't suffered.

Here are great number bridges over the river of Ljubljanica, but the most famous are Three Bridges, near the main square - Preseren.

The best souvenirs from Ljubljana would be a dragon or a frog. Today Slovenia is often called as a Dragon of Balkans, frog - because earlier in this location was fen and here were thousands of frogs.
