Belgrade (Beograd) is a capital of Serbia, situated in the north-central part of the country at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. Belgrade is one of the oldest towns in Europe and since ancient times it has been an important traffic focal point, an intersection of the roads of West and East. Its history lasts full 7000 years. Today city is the administrative, economic and cultural centre of Serbia. It‘s very energetic city, famous for its cosmopolitan atmosphere. Cultural lovers can revel in its museums and architecture monuments, foodies in its restaurants, while party persons will get no rest exploring its incessant nightlife. There are lot of facinating fountains in the city. The moust famous placed at Terazije square, with the theme of the liberation of Serbia from the Turks.
The best starting point to tour the city is Stari Grad (Belgrade’s old town). The old town dominated by an ancient fortress called the Kalemegdan citadel, where a military museum is aranged. Also, it‘s worth to visit the city hall and Parlament, the Republic square and Ruzica, wich is the oldest Orthodox Church in Belgrade and whole East Europe.
Take a stroll through the main pedestrian only street- Knez Mihajlova. It‘s nice place for a shopping as well. The prices are not big, but have the local currency with you. The official Serbian currency is the dinar (RSD) and 1 dinar consists of 100 para.
