It is the youngest from all three Russian's big cities, second largest and largest seaport in Russia and the capital of Russia for two centuries from 1712 till 1918. Saint Petersburg was created by Peter I, which ruled between 1682 and 1725.The city often calls North Venecia, because of it's beauty, Neva river, mountains and architects, builded this city. Saint Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe because of that - in every step visitors can find architectual masterpiece - Peter and Paul Fortress (and the cathedral within), St. Isaac's Cathedral, sobor of Petropavlovsk and the stronghold of the same name, Catherina's Palace, Petrodvorec Palace, church of Savior, Peter the Great Statue, a lot of other objects, hundreds of museums, theaters and ofcourse city's main avenue Prospect of Nevskiy.
Saint Petersburg inspired such world's figures as Gogol, Tchaikovsky, Turgenev, Pushkin and Dostoevsky.
The city lived through the end of the monarchy, the Bolshevik uprising and 1917's Revolution.
