The Nizhni Novgorod Kremlin is the central part of the ancient town where first wooden fortress was built in 1221. Construction of the Kremlin wall designed by the Italian Peter Friazin, originally was about 1.5 miles long.

There are several buildings within the Kremlin - The House of Soviets (designed by A.Grinberg in 1929-31, nowadays there is City Council), Governor's house (from 1840 till 1917, since 1990 within is Art Museum - collection of icons, paintings and sculptures), the oldest church of Novgorod Archangel Michael's Cathedral (designed by L.Vozoulin and D.Konstantinov in 1631) also there are endured 11 towers of 13.
