The Market Square is the heart of Warsaw old town for ages. It was setted before 1408 for the Town New of Warsaw then founded. Destroyed during Second World War, the square was reconstruct to look as it did in the 17th century when it was mostly inhabited by rich merchant families. The epicenter of Square is marked by the Mermaid Statue (Syrena Staromiejska). The Mermaid is the legendary protectress of Warsaw. The Historic Museum of the Capital City of Warsaw, established on the northern end of the Square. Today bustling with life, full of tiny cafes and street performers, it's a nice place to stop for a while to sit and admire the architecture and to taste some local beer and food in one of the many restaurants located here.
