Bergen is the second largest Norwegien city after Oslo, located on the west coast of country. It‘s also calls ‚,Gateway to the Fjords of Norway“, such fabulous view opens from Flpyen mountain.
In 2000 the city was included to the UNESCO world heritage. The main reason for this is its wonderful location and world-famous surroundings: the seven great mountains and the fjords go towards creating an international and yet completely idiosyncratic atmosphere, which is sure to make a lasting impression on all visitors. Bergen’s long history as Norway’s leading port, it also enjoyed the capital status until the late 1200s, and latterly as an international business and tourist center lends it a more cosmopolitan air than other major Norwegian towns.
Manily there are two parts of the town: Bryggen, the old city, is on UNESCO's World Heritage List, and the modern city, which contains many of Bergen's commercial and cultural attractions. Take a walk through oldtown and delight in picturesque merchant‘s district, with colorfull medieval houses, in beautiful Cathedral, wich was parochial St. Olaf church; the house of famous Norwegian composer E.Gryg, situated in amzing ness of Nurd lake, Bergenhus, the old medieval fortress; Rosencrantz Tower, a fortified thirteenth century residence; Bryggens Museum, which recreates medieval life; and Bergen Aquarium, which is one of the best aquariums in Europe. Don‘t leave this city without visiting fishmarket. Along the way or after you are tired of walking you may sit in one of the small and cozy cafes, restaurants or pubs.
