Podgorica is official capital of Montenegro, situated in Southeast of country. It’s the city of new modern architecture, because during second world war town was suffered heavily. It is housed amongst five rivers: the Moraca, Zeta, Ribnica, Sitnica and Cijevna. The sunsets along Moraca banks are often quite spectacular. It’s one of the stunning view in the city. Also claim to Gorica Hill. It overlooks Podgorica and provides the iddilyc vantage point for admiring the town and the many rivers in the Zeta river valley as they come together during their long course to the Adriatic. Furthermore, keep a special eye out while walking Podgorica's shaded streets for statues of such local (and international) celebrities as Marko Miljanov, or the quintessential Montenegrin writer and ruler Petar II Petrovic Njegos. Enjoy green squares and parks, there are lot of them.
The best way to explore Podgorica is on foot. Don’t forget to see the impressive Millennium Bridge King Nicola palace, art gallery in it; the modernist ProMonte building, and the Montenegrin National Theater, Petrovic's Castle and it’s gallery, Roman Square-face of Podgorica.
If it’s enough culture go shopping to the pedestrian district-Herzegovina Street. Wealth of shops, boutiques, quirky cafes and stylish salons are waiting you here. Don’t leave Podgorica without tasting local speciality: stuff cabbage leaves with minced meat and rice, and carp with risotto and dried plums and the real national drink-rakije, a white grape brandy.
