Tiraspol came from Tyras/Tiras - the colony of Miletus about in 600 years BC, have been restored by Romans in about 56 years and since then formed part of the province, latter has been destroyed by Goths. Still exist series of coins (with heads of Roman emperors from Domitian to Alexander Severus), which were traded in wheat, wine and fish.
Today in Tiraspol visitors can find a theater, the statue of/for Alexander Suvorov/Severus was built in the central square in 1979 (for his 250th anniversary), statue of Lenin, soviet tank T-34 commemorating the Soviet victory in the Second World War and jet monuments.
