First Slav tribes settled here in the VIIth century, during Tsar Samuel Macedonia became a very powerful state.
Macedonia declared its independence in 1991, after broke-up. Macedonia is the country of the Middle Balcans without entrance
to the sea, but with a wonderful nature - mountains and deep valleys.
Main activities are - products of tobacco and textile, production of chemicals, steel and cement.
Here are several visiting places during winter (Shar Planina, Pelister, Mavrovo, Krushevo) and summer(Ohrid, Struga, Prespa,
Dojran) seasons, also here are four national parks (The Pelister national park is the oldest, opened in 1948, covers an area
of 11,750 hectares; the Pelister covers and area of 1,600 hectares; in the Mavrovo national park are higher forms and
extremely rare plants), covering an area of 130,000 hectares, three tectonic lakes - Ohrid, Prespa and Dojran, because of
their great importance for science, they are protecting by law.
During visiting Macedonia in the must-see list here is the lake of Ohrid (its region is writen in the UNESCO World Heritage
list since 1979 including its history, culture and nature), Berov (monastery) and the older Strumica.
