Bock Promontory is the unique structure placed in the Alzette Valley. It‘s the cradle of the city of Luxembourg. In 963 Siegfried, Count of Ardenne, acquired this monolithic rocky ledge on which he established his castle and played a crucial defensive role. It was easy to defend, because it‘s surrounded on three sides by the valley. Inside the rock are the casemates of the Bock, which was as underground defense galleries.
