Luxemburg- Ville is the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The town’s history dates back to the year 963, when Siegfried, Count of the Ardennes, had a castle named "Lucilinburhuc" costructed on a rock overlooking the River Alzette. The city is divided into two districts: the gorgeous old town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), facinating with fortress towers, turrets and winding, cobblestone streets; and the modern downtown area on the Plateau du Kirchberg, home to Luxembourg's renowned international finance businesses, also, there are a number of European Union institutions based here.
The best starting point is the Place d'Armes. It‘s the main square packed with lively cafes and restaurants.
