| Gates of Dawn |
|
|
Gates of Dawn is the well known place for religious pilgrims. It‘s built into the original city wall. If you’re walking from Old Town, look for a door on the left and go up the stairs. The building's unique renaissance attic is jeweled with a decor characteristic of that style. The main facade of the gates is graced with gryphons bearing the arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The picture of the Mother of Mercy of the Gates of Dawn is good known among Catholics in all over the world. The image of the Virgin Mary is covered with gold by an unknown 17th century goldsmith.
