According historical sources, Schaan first time was mentioned about in 850 years and is one of the first settlements of Liechtenstein. Today this town has the biggest population and is very important industrial centre.

Tourists may visit several places of interesting - St. Laurentius New Parish Church (neo-Gothic style natural stone building was consecrated on 5 October 1893, rebuilt between 1968 and 1978-designed by Georg Malin); St. Laurentius Old Parish Church (today it is left only the tower); Chapel of St. Mary of Consolation (consecrated in 1743, the tower was finished in 1789, but there is no documents of chapel's foundation); St. Peter´s Church (it is the oldest church in all Liechtenstein, walls are from the Vth of VIth century, church was damaged by the fire in 1499, during the Swabian War).
