Florence is the capital of Tuscany region and cradle of the Renaissance. It’s popular tourist’s attraction because of world-class art galleries and museums and beautiful setting along the Arno River. Florence, the town of flowers was the located where the Renaissance grew and anticipated Enlightenment and thus Modernity as a whole. You can see here lots of great works by Raffaello, Botticelli, Da Vinci and others. The city was inspiring place for many famous artists. Don’t miss Italian paintings at the Uffizi Gallery and sculptures at the Bargello; Michelangelo's famous statue of "David" at the Accademia Gallery. Explore exhibits at the Science Museum, including Galileo's first telescopes.
Around noonday shops close and, it’s time to eat. Choose one of many nice Florence family-run trattoria, gourmet restaurants or stylish designer eateries. Taste a simple Tuscan meal of tomato stew followed by prime steak.
Florence has spectacular surroundings as well. It’s not far away Italian showplaces, such as Pisa, Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano and the undulating Chianti countryside.
