The Thingvellir park is important Iceland historic place. In 930 Alting-Iceland assembly was establish here. It‘s one of the oldest parlament in the world. The island indipendence was declared at this place in 1944.  Also, it became the first National Park in Iceland. You have unique oprtunity to see where two tectonic plates drif apart. The speed of drifting seek 2 m per century, and that process can be easily appreciated in Thingvellir.
