Budapest is Hungarien capital situated in north part of country. Until XIX century there were two cities Buda and Pest, wich straddles the River Danube. Buda was the capital, while Pest was the center of commerce and crafts. Buda settled on the upland, the biggest hill called Gellert Hill, from wich fabulous city panorama opens.You will see the differences between them: Buda is older, hillier, and more graceful, while Pest is the commercial centre dotted by gorgeous art nouveau buildings.
There are long list of Budapest monuments included in UNESCO heritage: the Buda Castle District, Heroes’ Square with its surroundings , Andrassy Avenue with the Millennium Underground Railway.
We suggest to take boat tour through Danube at nightime, when Budapest shining in other colours. Enjoy the wonderful view of the city swimming in lights in a romantic atmosphere. You will be able to admire of all Budapest pearls, situated on the Danube bank: Parliament building, Margaret Island, the Buda Castle District with the Mathias Church, Fishermen's Bastion, Royal Castle of Buda, Gellert Hill with the Citadel, Liberation Monument and the Gellert Hotel and SPA, the nicest bridges accross the Danube: Margaret bridge, Chain bridge (Szechenyi Lanchid) with its stone lions and wrought-iron lamps; Elizabeth bridge, Freedom bridge, Petofi bridge, the modern National Theatre, Palace of Arts, the university district and the Central Market Hall.
Don‘t miss world famous Budapest Baths. You can choose even from several complexes: one in the Gellert Hotel, at the foot of the Citadel Hill or the oldest one -the Szechenyi Thermal Baths.
Furthermore, if you love do shopping will find good bargains in Budapest. If you like charming, small shops with unique items, instead of the faceless shopping centres you'll find some. Otherwise, large shopping malls, new fashion shops appeared on every corner of the town.
