Potsdam is the capital of Branderburg district. It’s like suburb of Berlin, not far away, but very different. The town is surrounded by water, situated on the banks of the Havel river and lakes are next to. It offers for visitors impressive culture life, scientific environment, flourishing gardens and parks, fiery-tale like palaces and numerous monuments. The historic parts of city are the Hollandisches Viertel (the Dutch quarter), Alexandrowka and the Weaver's quarter. The main tourist points are Sanssouci palace with park and Cecilienhof castle, where famous Potsdam conference was held, and the New Palace, these are spectacular reminders of Potsdam's role in German history. Nowadays the Potsdam Sanssouci music festival and the Night of the Palaces are going.
