Berlin is the capital of Germany, where the East meets the West part of country. The bear is a proper symbol of Berlin - gruff, endlessly adaptable, bruising, fiercely protective of its young, able to endure times that would spell doom to a lesser species and, at once, loveable and frightening in some of its aspects. It has undergone some dramatic changes since the fall of the famous Berlin Wall in 1989. Today Berlin is full of life, culture and is colourful at any time of year. It’s a city generously endowed with museums, galleries and other cultural institutions - the arts figure large in the city’s life.
We highly recommend to visit Brandenburg Gate with Schadow's quadriga on its top, glorious German and French cathedral; the Museum’s island; Alexander square, TV tower, where wide town panorama opens; concert hall named Schauspielhaus or Konzerthaus; discover the historic Nikolai quarter and the oldest church of Berlin - the Nikolai-Kirche. The Unter den Linden avenue in East Berlin is worth to see as well. Famous Brandenburg Gate, the Zeughaus and the National Opera, the Humboldt University placed here.
Do you like shop? Along the Berlin shopping line you'll find a huge selection of shops including many of the big names and it also has own commercial hub. The most noteworthy is Kurfurstendamm, four km long avenue in Charlottenburg. In the East side of Berlin can find more funky furnishings and clothing outlets, for those with more artistic tastes.
After day tour take a rest in one of many high quality Berlin’s restaurants or just snack-bars. Local cuisine peculiarities are: Kohlsuppe-cabbage soup or Erbsensuppe-pea soup for a first dish; Bratwurst-a pork sausage or Regensburger- a spicer one for a second and Kugelhupf, a fantastic coffeecake, or Kasekuchen-cheesecake for a dessert.
