Tampere is the third largest city in Finland, it was founded in 1775 as a market place by Gustav III, the king of Sweden. Industry in this city grew up in the XIXth century and in the second half of the century Tempere hold almost half of all Finland's industry power. It is an excellent place for visitors to stop, all the most important places are accessible on foot.
Tampere the leading city in the Finnish lake district. In this town's region here are about 200 lakes, in the centre is walking distance, Arboretum - a botanical park of typical trees and bushes, also visitors may find here a rose garden; two national parks - Seitseminen and Helvetinjarvi.
In Tampere here are several famous buildings, worth to visit - The Alexander Church (built in 1881 in neogothic style); the Orthodox Church (built in 1899 in neobyzantine style); lutheran Cathedral (built in the beginning of the XXth century in romantic style); the Kaleva Church (Completed in 1966, is a modern temple and a concert venue); Pyynikki Observation Tower (built in 1929, with a cafe on the top); Nasinneula Observation Tower (is the best known building, high - 168 metres, within is the revolving restaurant).
