Helsinki is the biggest city and the capital of Finland. Which through 100 years from the small city with wooden houses became a large seaport, important centre of culture, industry, economic and politic, modern and interesting city.
Town was established in 1550 by Swedish king Gustav Vasa near the river Vantaa, in 1812 it became the duchy's capital when Russians occupied Finland and decided to move capital from Turku into the city, which is closer to Russia. In 1917 it became the capital of independent Finland. In 1952 the Olympic Games took place here.
