Talin is the main port and country capital. Explore Tallinn - a town with a long history of trade and activity, talent and ambition, new ideas and creativity.

Tallinn has one of the best old town in Europe, listed in UNESCO. It allmost wasn‘t demaged during historical events. Perhaps the supreme disaster- fire in XVI century. The best way to discover it is a walk tour. The old city consist of two septated parts: the Upper and the Lower part.  In the Upper part nobility, conversly in the Lower-merchants used to live. Its web of winding cobblestone streets and properties, from the 11th to 15th centuries, preserved nearly in its entirety.

Toompea Castle is great starting point.  After visit the spectacular Town Hall Square, nearby pink parliament building; Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St. Catherine's Passage, Kadriorg Palace and ornamental garden; the medieval Dominican monestry, Gothic style St. Olaf‘s church.

Take a rest in one of Tallinn old town of chic cafes or gourmet restaurants. Try Estonian speciality is smoked fish, particularly trout or blood sausages and blood pancakes. They also have a liqueur called Vana Tallinn, which is sickly sweet and very strong. No one seems to know what it is made from, but it is an essential part of any Estonia‘s table. The best to taste it in coffee or over ice with milk.

If it‘s enough culture and history go shopping. Dozens of souvenir, antique and speciality stores can be found in old city. The main shoper‘s streets are Viru, Muurivahe, Suur-Karja, Vaike-Karja and Kullassepa.
