Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and the biggest city of the country.
Copenhagen was mentioned for the first time in 1043, here built a castle in 1167 and in 1254 became a city, since the XVth century Copenhagen is the capital and residence of the King.
After the golden age of Copenhagen during the XVIIIth - XIXth centuries catastrophes started - plague, fires, britain's attacks. But after this dark period followed cultural and scientific revival, instead of martials objects were built parks.
Today Copenhagen looks very lively and young, during summer time streets, bars, restaurants are full of tourists and local residents.
Copenhagen is the oldest European monarch's resident, Hans Christian Andersen's fairy-tales city, with the most famous symbol - mermaid.
There are places worth to visit - Scharlottenborg Palace (all buildings are from the XVIIth century); Runde Tarn, where revival took place in the XVIIth century; Tivili's market, here are great number of stalls, caffes, carousels, playing areas.
Also in this city are two universities, arts museums, galleries, Opera theater, B.Thorvaldsen's (Denmark’s most famous artist) museum.
