Aalborg is the Vikings founded city, over 1300 years ago the first Vikings settled here - in the Lindholm Hoje museum and city's most popular tourist attraction). Till 1841 Aalborg was very important trade port with Norway.

Aalborg is an old market town, that show many old buildings, which are worth to visit - Jens Bang's House (built in 1624, the finest example of renaissance domestic architecture in Northern Europe), Holy Ghost monastery, Budolfi Cathedral.

Today Aalborg is the fourth largest city and busiest trading centres in Denmark with many attractive shopping streets - Bispensgade and Algade are two largest pedestrian areas.

Also Aalborg Jazz and Blues Festival is taking place in Aalborg every fourth year, these two are the largest carnival parades in Scandinavia with thousands of young people from all over the world, games and open air concerts.

In 1885 here was established Denmark's sport club - football, basketball, ice-hockey and handball are playing in the highest leagues.
