Zagreb is an old Central European city, full of well-preserved, grand, peach-coloured monuments and buildings from the 19th century. Also it is the capital of Croatia since 1991. It was the centre of culture and politic since the Middle Ages. Kaptol and Gradec was two medieval communities from which Croatia grew out. Today here is only a street - Tkalciceva - marking dried river, which separated two towns. With Croatians life visitors can meet more closely visiting theaters - the choise is very wide - performances of opera or ballet, Comedies or dramas, operas or musicals, classic or modern ballet, contemporary stage or the playful world of puppets. Also turist can spend their time in museums, picturesque open-air markets, various kinds of shops and delicious local cuisine.
