Varna was famous since the VIth century B.C. as a colony of Greeks. Through the ages it was a great centre of trading, harbour complex, nowadays developed ship's, car's, textile, food industries. Today Varna is the biggest city on the Black Sea's coast in Bulgaria and the 'around-the-year' holiday destination.

Visitors should visit The Nezavisimost Square where the opera house is built, The Roman Baths (were built in the Roman Empire's time (the IIth century), that days here were the biggest (an area of about 7000 square meters) roman Baths in the eastern part of the Empire, they were used till the IIIth century); Cathedral of the Assumption (the first foundation stone was placed by the Prince Alexander Battenberg on 22 August 1880, designed by Maas - architect from Odessa. The Cathedral was finished in 1886 and consecrated only in 1910); Old Clock Tower in the City Gardens; Granite monument built to memorise the Battle of Varna in 1444; Marine Garden;Zoo.
