Since old times it was famous because of turkish style houses and old bridge - Stari Most (after destruction in 1993, it was rebuilt in 2004, using methods as in the XVIth century). During the conflict in 1990 the bigger part of the city was damaged, but with the help of UNESCO's International Scientific Committee, Stari Most and a lot of Old Town's buildings were rebuilt.
