Banjaluka was mentioned in historic sources in 1494, but the city was established several hundreds years ago. Here is endured ancient castle, mosques, churches. Today Banjaluka is the second largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the castle (Kastel, built by Ancient Romans) National and university library (within are 150,000 books and 3,500 unique items), National Theatre, museums, archive, Art gallery, Children theatre, TV and radio stations, because of this it became cultural center. Also Banjaluka is famous for its green areas - avenues, alleys and parks.
During ages, till the XIXth century, Banjaluka was destroyed several times by Ottoman-Austrian.
Visitors may explore beautiful view of the city and its region from the hill of Banj brdo.
