In 996 years Austria's (Ostarrichi) name was mentioned for the first time. During the XIXth century Austria-Vengria's country was big and powerful, after the Second World War was splintered into several indipendent countries. In the 15th of May in 1955 recreated democratical republic, in 1995 entered into European Union. Today's Austria created after the First World War in 1918, finally territory formed in 1922.

Austria is mountainous land, they form about 80 % territory's. Average high of mountain ridge 500 - 1500 metres, the hightest spot - Grossglockner (3797 metres).

Forests occupies 38 % Austria's area, and is the third country in Europe (after Sweden and Finland). Austrians are very proud of this.

Despite that german language is native, in all regions are diferent dialect.

Great number of austrians left very big heritage in world's culture, especially in domain of music from the XVIIIth - XIXth centuries - W.A.Mozart, L.vanBethoven, J.Strauss, J.Brahms, F.J.Haines, Ch.W.von Gluck, F.P.Schubert, G.Maler, R.M. Rilke,
